
I thought I would
start this page out with some photos that I took way back in the early 1990's,
at what was the Mare Island Naval Shipyard. While walking towards the old pier
that the mothballed WW II submarines used to be tied up at I came across and old
ex navy destroyer with not identification what so ever - it was not until I
walked to the stern that I could still make out the name in raised letters that
said SOUTHERLAND. Outboard of her you could can see the USS STODDARD.
Every so often I
